I absolutely adore how the textured details come together on this little guy! The bobble stitches on the snout and paws give him so much character without being overly complicated. Plus, making the dual-colored ears by crocheting two flat circles together is such a clever, clean technique that you'll want to use in all your future projects.
When I first sat down to make this pattern, I knew I wanted to create a classic fairytale dragon that felt both whimsical and approachable. The construction is incredibly fun because of how the textures play together. If you want to customize your little dragon, try experimenting with different color palettes! A deep forest green with golden horns looks majestic, while a soft lavender with mint green wings gives off pure fantasy vibes.
I love using a slightly tighter tension than usual for amigurumi to ensure that the stuffing doesn't peek through the stitches. If you find your stitches are a bit loose, try dropping down a hook size to a 2.75 mm. This keeps the fabric nice and dense, especially around the safety eyes. When assembling, don't rush the pinning phase! Taking an extra five minutes to play with the placement of the ears, horns, and spikes makes all the difference in giving your dragon its own unique expression.
Meet your next favorite make! This sweet little dragon is packed with personality, from its tiny snout bobbles to its gorgeous ribbed wings. I designed this pattern to feel like a cozy chat with a friend, guiding you through every stitch so you can bring this magical creature to life. It is the perfect size for cuddling, sitting on a bookshelf, or gifting to a fantasy lover in your life.

I hope you have the absolute best time crafting this little magical companion! There is something so special about watching a creature's personality emerge with every stitch, especially when you add those sweet little facial details. Don't forget to share your finished dragon with your friendsβit is bound to bring a smile to anyone's face! Happy stitching! π§Άβ¨
Safety eyes can be a choking hazard for children under three. If you are making this dragon for a baby, I highly recommend embroidering the eyes with black yarn or embroidery floss instead.
You can easily use DK weight yarn with a 2.5 mm or 2.75 mm hook for a slightly smaller, delicate dragon, or chunky blanket yarn with a 5 mm or 6 mm hook for a giant, super-cuddly plushie!
To prevent a floppy head, stuff both the neck of the body and the base of the head very firmly before joining. You can also roll up a piece of felt or insert a clean plastic foam curler inside the neck as a support column.
To work the bob st, work a partial double crochet 4 times into the same stitch, leaving the last loop of each on your hook, then yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on your hook to secure the bobble.
